New Free Resource: Digital Successor to “Spiritual Life”

The print version of the quarterly Spiritual Life, a journal of contemporary spirituality, is no longer being produced, but its successor, a free online version, is now available.

spiritual life/Online is the digital successor to Spiritual Life and is published online quarterly by the Discalced Carmelite Friars of the Washington Province.

spiritual life/Online contains articles that deal with various aspects of Christian Spirituality and their application to everyday life. Carmelite spirituality is also featured, examining the meaning of the lives and writings of St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Ávila, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, and St. Edith Stein.

The first digital edition of spiritual life/Online (Volume 1, Number 1, Spring 2015) contains the following articles:

  • “Teresa of Avila and Affability” by Kieran Kavanaugh, OCD
  • “Finding a Place of Refuge: The Practice of St. Thérèse” by Marc Foley OCD
  • “A Birthday with Thomas Merton” by Patrick J. McDonald, LISW, LMFT

I found Marc Foley’s article particularly insightful and his suggestions very helpful.

There is also a book section that highlights books that would be helpful to readers on their Journey to God.

spiritual life/Online promises to provide its readers with intelligent and thought-provoking material that will enhance their growth in the Spirit.
